In order to attend this training course, you must be a member of a tactical team.
Primary SWAT is hosted by the Montana Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association Tactical Commander Subcommittee and instructors are from teams around the state.
Seats are limited and are on a first come, first served basis.
Course Fees
- Registration Fee (required)
- Room and Board at MLEA (optional)
- Lodging = $120 per registrant for the week
- Meals = $160 per registrant for the week
Logistics
Students should plan to arrive in Helena on Saturday, July 13 and be ready to register and start class at 0730 on Sunday, July 14.

Instruction
Instruction will take place at MLEA and auxiliary locations as determined by the instructors.
Meals at MLEA
Meals are available through MLEA. They provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The total for all meals is $160 for the week. Students are not obligated to sign up for meals through MLEA. Students may provide their own meals throughout the week.
MLEA does not serve meals on Saturday or Sunday.
MSPOA will provide dinner on Sunday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 17 as part of the course.
Lodging at MLEA
Sleeping rooms are also an option at MLEA. The total for lodging is $120 per registrant for the week. MLEA typically has Primary SWAT students in the Maple building. Students do not have to stay at MLEA. There are hotels near the Academy if that is your preference (
Holiday Inn Express,
Comfort Inn and Suites).
