Course Overview:

This is First Responder Honor Guard training based on the book, The Honor Guard Manual, that isn't offered anywhere else. Ceremonial units need to have a training program that has a solid foundation based on a national standard. This course and The Honor Guard Manual establishes the foundation for your team who will have the opportunity to learn every ceremonial element for a funeral as well as the standards and techniques for colors presentations and much more.

Student Requirements:

Students do not have to be from an established team to attend the training.  The class is applicable for those currently on a team, those who are in the process of developing a team (large or small), and/or those who want to join the MSPOA Honor Guard Team.

Participants will need the following gear:

Bring your agency's honor guard equipment if you have it but not required. The drillmaster brings enough for 20 students

  • Classroom training dress requirement: Polo and 5.11 style pants
  • Final ceremony dress requirement: Class A or Honor Guard Uniform is recommended. A minimum of a class B uniform with a tie and head covering.

Class Capacity:

Class is limited to 20 students and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

If demand exceeds 20 students and we have a wait list with enough students for a second 20-student class, there will be another class from September 13-17.
