Missoula police arrest medical marijuana patient with 95 plants in underground grow rooms

A pot bust on Wednesday turned up nearly 100 marijuana plants that were concealed in an underground crawlspace at a Missoula man's home.

Shannon Lee Lange, 32, was arrested on charges of criminal production of dangerous drugs and criminal possession with intent to distribute, both felonies. Lange has another case pending in Missoula District Court, and is set to appear next month for sentencing on a felony count of assault with a weapon.

Lange has pleaded guilty in that case to a single felony charge that he fired a rifle at an occupied car during a dispute.

According to charging records in the drug case, law enforcement officials obtained a search warrant for Lange's home on Carey Lane Tuesday after investigating him for months. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that Lange was growing pot in a crawlspace beneath his home, which he had expanded into a full basement.

Officers found numerous glass jars filled with dried marijuana in Lange's garage, as well as a stack of business cards advertising "Organic Goodness." Officers then located a trap door and ladder that revealed a maze of passages leading to three separate marijuana "grow rooms" beneath Lange's home.
